TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE by Mitch Albom.

tuesdays-with-morrie

THIS IS NOT A REVIEW. Tuesdays with Morrie is my favorite book of all time. I read it first as a Senior in high school, and since then I’ve read it one to two times a each year since. I wouldn’t be able to write a review of it that’s fair. It’s like seeing other people’s children and saying things about them (don’t they eat veggies? Do they read at night? etc) as compared to viewing your own children.

Not that I know about comparing children, as a single twenty-something living with my cats (and soon to be roommate). Nonetheless.

Tuesdays with Morrie is an experience, a trip through your own mind’s concerns through the minds of two others.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book, with the page numbers from my edition:

  • “And that was the end of his secret.” (pg .9)
  • “All right, I’ll be your coach. And you can be my player. You can play all the lovely parts of life I’m too old for now.” (pg. 31)
  • “Love wins. Love always wins.” (pg. 40)
  • “Sometimes, you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too — even when you’re in the dark. Even when you’re falling.” (pg. 61)
  • “Love each other or parish.”
  • “Without love, we are birds with broken wings.” (pg. 92)
  • “Don’t cling to things, because everything is impermanent.” (pg. 103)
  • “How can I be envious of where you are — when I’ve been there myself?” (pg. 121)
  • “Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone.” (pg. 128)
  • “Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” (pg. 133)

If you haven’t read Tuesdays with Morrie, you’re missing out.
